POLYANIONIC CELLULOSE (PAC)

1. PAC R (Regular Viscosity Grade)

PAC R is a high-viscosity grade designed primarily for drilling fluids used in oil and gas exploration. It provides excellent fluid loss control, enhances rheological properties, and improves borehole stability in both fresh water and salt water systems.

Applications: Oil and gas drilling fluids, completion fluids

Functions: Reduces fluid loss, increases viscosity, stabilizes shale, and improves carrying capacity of drill cuttings

Physical Properties

• Appearance: Fine white free flowing powder

• pH (1% aqueous solution): 7.0-8.5

• Specific gravity: 1.5-1.6

Technical Data

• Presence of starch or starch derivatives: Absent 

• Moisture content: max 10%

• Apparent viscosity: min 50cps

• API Filtrate volume: max 23ml

2. PAC LV (Low Viscosity Grade)

PAC LV is a low-viscosity grade mainly used where fluid loss control is required but minimal impact on viscosity is desired. It performs effectively in high-salinity and high-temperature conditions, maintaining stable performance across a wide pH range.

Applications: Saltwater drilling fluids, cement slurries, and workover fluids

Functions: Reduces filtration rate, minimizes solids invasion, and improves mud stability without thickening the system

Physical Properties

• Appearance:              White or yellowish free flowing granule/powder. 

• pH (1% acqueous solution):  7.0-8.5

• Specific gravity:            1.6
